Dime Drive 2009-2010

More than 110 years ago, an unsung American patriot named Charles Weisgerber set out on a mission to preserve the home of Betsy Ross and to bring the much-loved tale of Betsy's sewing our first stars and stripes to the public. To finance that undertaking, Weisgerber started a dime campaign ... collecting two million dimes from the American public, mostly school children, to restore the Betsy Ross House and open it to visitors. This amazing grassroots success story is unrivaled in American history ... until now.

Dime Drive 2009-2010 is currently underway at the Betsy Ross House. The money collected will help make much needed repairs to the House to insure that Betsy's story can continue to be told to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

We need your help ... bring your spare change with you when you visit the House or send us your tax deductible donation to help us reach our goal of matching the two million dimes collected by Mr. Weisgerber.

The Betsy Ross House is currently seeking schools and community groups to participate in Dime Drive 2009-2010. Spearhead your own dime drive to help us reach our goal and, in the spirit of a little fun competition, the school or organization that collects the most dimes gets a visit from Betsy Ross, herself, plus great prizes, VIP tours of the house and more!
